Hair!

We can't count the number of comments we're received about Ella's hair!! Michael and I LOVE it! It gives her such a unique look and she already has her own rock-star style. :) We still haven't put any bows in it, but she certainly has plenty of hair for it! We'll have fun playing around with it soon.

Michael pointed out last night that he thinks its already growing, and I had thought the same thing earlier in the day. When she was born, we estimated that it was about 1.5 inches long, but today it looks at least 2 inches! It sticks straight out in every direction and couldn't be more adorable! She even has natural blond highlights on the tips...what a lucky girl! Yesterday I had to take her to the hospital for a routine PKU test and the girl there recognized Ella from the nursery. She couldn't miss that hair!

It's curly when wet but completely straight when it dries. I had similar hair as a baby, so I feel confident that Ella will have curls like her mommy and daddy when she gets a little older!

2 weeks old and doing great

Today Ella had her 2 week check up at the pediatrician's. She weighed 7 pounds 10.5 ounces and was 22 inches long. This is well above her birth size, so the doctor was happy and so are her parents! This was just more reassurance that nursing is successful and we are so thankful! Ella is in the 25th percentile for weight and the 95th percentile for length!!

1 week old

Ella is changing so much already! She and I are on such a good routine and she's eating and sleeping VERY well! We miss daddy while he's at work all day, but she and I manage to stay pretty busy! As soon as he gets home, he holds her all evening and doesn't want to let her go! We love her so much!!! Enjoy the 1 week old new pictures!

She loves her room! I thought she was sleeping in her crib, but when I went to check on her she was wide-eyed looking at everything, so I stacked some blocks in front of her and she just stared! She is so much more alert than I expected at this brand new age!

We laugh that Ella has long feet, but certainly not when compared to Daddy's size 15!getting burped after eating....I love the look on her face; she is always in such a trance after eating.

1st doctor's visit

Today was Ella's first doctor's visit and checked out perfectly...as we knew she would! Breastfeeding is going so well and her weight was right on track. We are so blessed by her. She is eating well, sleeping well, and very alert during the day. We couldn't ask for a better baby. We are so in love with her! I know my hormones are still crazy but I just want to cry every time I look at her because she's so beautiful and so perfect! I can't imagine her being any cuter than she is right now but I know every parent says at every stage..."this is the best age ever". I'm sure I'll be the same way. Here are a few pictures from this morning...she's 6 days old.

She's so tiny in her carseat but it supports her well, and she doesn't mind being in it. We love her hair. It sticks out an inch and a half on all sides of her head! There is no point in even trying to do anything with it. It's so adorable!

We are so very proud to announce the arrival of our beautiful daughter, Ella Pearl Perkins, born May 14, 2008 at 2:25pm. She was born weighing 7 pounds 5 ounces and 20.25 inches long. We finally had a chance to upload a few pictures and will be adding more regularly. Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers! We are all doing wonderful and happy to be home!

May 11, 2008!

Well, here we are…May 11, 2008.  My due date!  This is the day we have been looking forward to for the past 9 months and today it came and went!  I can’t wait to meet our baby, but I want he or she to come on his/her own time so we’ll just keep waiting!  (hopefully not too long!)  I am so thankful to have my mom, dad, sister and her kids here with me this weekend!
