Sitting back and reflecting on you as a 6 year old, I am so impressed by your maturity and desire to learn. You simply thrived in school and loved every second of it. I wondered how you would respond to the Dual Language program at school but you have excelled every step of the way. You love learning the basics like math and reading but you also LOVE learning Spanish.
Reading has become something that you love to do in your downtime and any chance you get and I love to see you choose a book over many other things you could be doing. Just as I sat down to write on the computer, you brought me the Jesus Storybook Bible and said, "Mommy, next I'm going to try to read the Bible!" You were so excited and I can hear you reading it out loud in the living room as I type. You already came in here once to show me a long page of words you had just read, with a look of such pride on your face. I too, Ella, am so so proud of you. Earlier today as we played outside you brought a notebook outside then wrote me a note asking if we could make up math problems for each other and then solve them. So that's what we did for the next 30 minutes while the boys played basketball.

I feel like you have grown up so much in the past year. Especially compared to two little brothers, it's such a breath of fresh air that I can ask you to do something and know that you will almost always listen and be respectful. :)

As I mentioned, you have a maturity about you. You are very inquisitive and thinking about the future. For the past year, you have wanted to be an artist when you grow up. Since then you have asked me a few times, "Can I be a Mommy AND an artist? How will that work?" We had a conversation at bedtime the other night and you were realizing that you would have to get help with your kids if you wanted to be an artist and a mommy. You were a little concerned how it would all work, but I reminded you that I had worked the first 5 years of your life and I was trying to convince you that OF COURSE you could be a mommy AND an artist!

Right when you turned 6, you went through a short phase of being scared that you were going to lose me. You started asking me all about emergency procedures and you wanted to know exactly step by step what you would do in an emergency, such as a fire in our house, waking up and no one was home, etc. You even practiced opening your window all by yourself and wanted to go as far as actually jumping out the window one night before bed!! You asked tons of questions until you felt comfortable with your plan. You were also very concerned with how you would take care of Asher in the midst of an emergency. This is very indicative of your personality and as much as I want you to feel prepared I don't want you to worry or stress about these things so luckily that phase seems to have mostly past. In general, you tend to ask a lot of questions but once you get the answers that you feel comfortable with and that you understand you don't worry as much anymore.

You tend to procrastinate, or get distracted when you are supposed to be doing certain things, but I have learned to set the timer for you when you are getting ready for school in the mornings or when you are taking a shower and it works like a charm to keep you moving!! You love it too and always try to beat your time.
You are fun to be around!! You have the sweetest little smile and giggle and you absolutely love spending time with me and Daddy. At 6 years old, you still love to sit in our laps and be cuddly and affectionate all the time.
Ella, I could not be more proud of you and the little girl that you are!
We love you so much!!!
Love,
Mommy
