Big ruts and pretty sun

It rained in the middle of our clearing project, so at one point we were left with some pretty huge ruts.  The kids thought they were cool...I personally loved the way the sun was shining onto that spot at the exact time we were playing!

"BIG TRACTOR"

Back in May, we had a company come and clear out tons and tons of cedar trees at our new house.  The equipment was here for several days and the kids, Easton especially, loved all of the "BIG TRACTORS"(said in a deep, rough voice)!

The highlight of his day were the evenings when we let him go explore the tractors!

Carlotta!

This past weekend we were so very fortunate to get a visit from Carlotta!  Carlotta and I have been best friends since the 7th grade when she first moved to the little old town of Buffalo Gap.  We clicked instantly and went through so much together over the next 6 years, finishing middle school and all of high school.  Wow...so many many memories and so many stories!

After high school I moved to Austin and unfortunately since then, we have lived in different cities.  But regardless of the distance, we have remained close over the years, seeing each other as often as possible, and she is a friend that I can always pick up right where we left off and feel like we are just as close as if we saw each other every day, even though sometimes its been a whole year.  :(

She came in Friday night and we stayed up til 2am non-stop talking.  I felt like we had so much to talk about but we finally forced ourselves to go to bed, knowing I would be up early with the kids!  We had awesome conversations and I will cherish this weekend with her!

Emily (on the right) also went to HS with us, and Laura (in blue) is married to Matthew who we also went to HS with.  Laura and Matthew moved to San Antonio almost 3 years ago (is that right, Laura!?!) and she and I became instant friends as soon as we met.  I love these girls and there is just something refreshing about being with those who know your roots!

The four of us and our crew had a super fun pool party on Saturday.

It's really fun to see all of our kids playing together!

These group pictures turned out fun and bring a smile to my face as I think of the retakes and myself running all around the longest distance of the pool trying to beat the self-timer without slipping on water and sitting down each time exactly as the camera shutter was going off!  And of course Michael, being the biggest kid of all, and little "Michael, Jr." below with his tongue sticking out.

Our last day.

Our last day was all about having fun on the boat and making sure we fit in all the things we wanted to before the end of the trip!

More fun in Cozumel

Ella loved all the little Mexican dolls.  She wanted to buy one, but when I saw the $30 price tag, I suggested we take a picture with them instead!

Then we found a cute small doll for a few dollars that she got to bring home with her.  Our one purchase from the trip and she loves her! :)

All the girls shopping....

...and the guys off to find a bar!
