Lost Pines: Riding Bikes

We took a break from the pool to check out the bikes, and after that, riding bikes is what Easton wanted to do ALL weekend!  One thing we loved about Lost Pines was the family atmosphere and how comfortable we felt there.  There were so many bike trails right around the hotel that we felt comfortable letting Ella and Easton go off on a little trail on their own and come right back.  They loved that freedom.  We also enjoyed some fun family bike rides around the entire resort.

Lost Pines: The Pool

Our last getaway before school and tax season starting was a fun weekend at the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort in Bastrop, TX.  This was our first time there and it lived up to to all expectations!  We arrived right around lunch, ate sandwiches in our room and then headed straight to the pool where we quickly learned how much the kids loved the big waterslide and lazy river!

By the second day, one of the attendants at the top of the slide let Asher go down on his own, despite being below the height requirement of 42inches.  Asher's dream come true!

Asher and Easton were immediately right back up the steps to the slide the second they got out of the water.

The drive home

We woke up early Saturday morning ready to make the big drive home all in one day.  We were making great timing and everything was going smoothly.  We stopped at Wendy's for lunch and came out to a flat tire in our rental car.

Luckily we were caravanning, so Michael and Lanyon removed the tire so they could run it up the street to be fixed.

The rest of us headed back into Wendy's....

About an hour and a half later, we were back on the road!

After the unexpected delay, we were trying to make up time and didn't want to stop.  Our goal was to make it to Buccee's for a single pit stop where we could use restrooms, get gas and eat dinner all in one.  We were a little concerned when Buccee's was 61 miles away and we had 60 miles to Empty but Michael is always the optimist and just kept driving and driving until eventually he could drive no more....

3 miles before our exit, the car quit.  We were able to safely pull over to the side of the road and the Stanley's, once again, saved the day and went up the road to get us some gas.  Another 30 minutes later and we made it to Buccees!

At least we kept the drive interesting...added more memories to the trip...and all were able to laugh through it.  We were home by 10:30pm, 14.5 hours from the time we left, even with 2 hours of delays.  Overall, I can honestly still say the drive was not that bad.  Way better than I had anticipated... Michael and Lanyon were excellent drivers and the kids were really great passengers!!!

Adagio A102

We stayed at the Adagio condos, Rm A102 in Blue Mountain Beach.  There were 11 of us with different priorities and when we found this place it was truly a perfect fit for everyone!  We all loved it.

We didn't have a view of the sand of the beach because we were on the first floor, but we did have a gorgeous view of the ocean and we wouldn't have traded the grass lawn outside our first floor patio door.  The grassy area was the perfect place for the kids to play when we were back at the condo.

Although the condo was on the beach, when we booked it, my only hesitation was the stairway to and from the actual beach.  The stairs turned out to be no problem and even Asher was walking up on his own by Day 2.

They had a great shower area and a pool conveniently located on the way to our room.

We would absolutely come back to this same condo!  It was great for little kids especially and a little further from Seaside so not as crowded.  I did love the atmosphere of Seaside and surrounding towns so I would consider trying out other places to stay next time, however, this would be hard to beat if we had a large group again to fill the 4 bedrooms.

Day 7 - Shrimp Shack

For our last night, I really just wanted an easy kid friendly dinner where we could enjoy the beach environment.   The Shrimp Shack was the perfect spot...we ate a ton of amazing peel and eat shrimp as the sun was setting and the waves were rolling in.

As we walked back to our car, we found another cute little spot in seaside...

Then we rushed back to the condo to throw on our swimsuits one last time for a final good bye to the beach!

We had planned on finishing at the pool like we did every other time after the beach, but the weather had different plans!  We didn't mind one awesome storm on our very last night as we were packing up to go home.
