Lucky #4

I never had a “lucky number”…but before Ella was born, I was always thinking and wondering about when she would come and what her birthday would be.  At some point I realized that almost ALL of our special days ended with a “4”!  Surprisingly, with the birth of BOTH of our children, that “tradition” has carried on!  So I can’t help but think that 4 must be my lucky number!

My birthday is May 4

Michael’s birthday is April 24

We were engaged on February 14

We were married on June 14

Ella was born on May 14

Easton was born on April 24

Just to be clear….neither our wedding day or engagement were planned with 4’s in mind…at that point it had never crossed my mind!  And neither of our kids were induced; they came completely on their own!  Just some fun random facts about our family!

Comparison

When Ella was around 4-5 months old, I remember always putting her in the bumbo on the kitchen cabinet in the mornings while I would get her bottles ready for daycare….and now 2 years later, here is Easton doing the exact same thing!  It just takes me back….

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society ParTee Fore A Cure

Our friends, Terri and Ben McPeak chaired this year's Gala and we were on the committee to help out.  The event was in September and we all had a blast!  We had invited several of our friends, so it was great to have everyone there together all in one place!  Terri did an amazing job and the event was a HUGE success!  This was one of the MOST fun nights I've had in a while!

Starting to sit.

Easton is starting to sit up all by himself!  For about a week he can sit in his boppy pillow, and he can even sit completely unsupported for a little while.  He’s doing great, but still has some core strength to build up before he can keep his balance for very long!

look at that posture!  :)010

and then slowly, slowly, he starts leaning forward….

003If I can get him to look up at something, he usually has enough strength to sit back up a little….

And I have found this picture of Ella doing this EXACT same thing EXACTLY 2 years ago, almost to the day!

Texas football!

We were at the lake for the first football game of the season, so the Tech game was the first time we had a chance to get dressed up in our UT gear and BBQ at our house for a game.  We had fun!  Easton was in bed before our guests even arrived, but at least he got in a picture! ;)

We appreciate the fact that even though the Brown’s are Aggies, they still come over and watch the longhorn games with us!  For some of us, “watching the game” means….eating chips and queso, catching up, riding plasma cars, jumping, rough housing and having late night fun with friends!

Serious thumb-sucker!

Ever since going to bed unswaddled at 14 weeks, Easton loves his thumb!  These days at nearly 5 months old, he hardly ever takes his pacifier!

Kiddie Park, round 2

This time Michael got to come with us!!  We had fun.  Ella was still pretty reserved with the rides, especially in the beginning, but she had fun and did what she felt comfortable with!  Looking back at these pictures I’m remembering that she was a little moody on this particular day…

here is she waiting for the first ride…she looks a bit nervous.

but once it takes off, she realizes it’s pretty fun after all!

Easton got to ride on the carousel with Daddy.  He had fun, but once again, Ella’s not quite ready to smile….

Then back to the airplanes…this time she chose the pink one.  It’s a little hard to see in the picture, but this mischievous little smile tells me that she is having fun but not quite ready to admit it!  That’s her stubborn personality shining through!

Then on to the cars….at first, still trying to hold back the smile, but eventually, just can’t contain it anymore!

Next she chose the horse carriages.  A very LOUD but tame ride that she wouldn’t do last time.  Kiddie Park 055

Even though it was her choice to ride, she decided early on that she was NOT going to enjoy it and proceeded to make the biggest, fakest, frowny face you could ever imagine!  She kept this face going for the entire ride.

Finally, she’s happy to just sit back and relax.Kiddie Park 066

Overall, it really was a great day!  Thanks to the Browns for inviting us there and to a great breakfast at Magnolia before!

Fun with Carlotta!

About a week ago, Carlotta, my best friend from high school came in town just to see me and the kids and we had SUCH a great time!  She was here for 2 nights so the kids got to spend lots of time with her and it didn’t take long for them to warm up!  She was smitten with Easton, but that’s no surprise! :)

And when we were at the house, Ella never left her side…

We did some shopping while she was here…and couldn’t resist a picture in our matching hats….

We also got some pool time and as always, Carlotta was a big hits with the kids!

We even got to meet up with a few other fellow “high school” friends while she was here!  Emily “Martin” Sims….

and Matthew and Laura Crowell….

Ella and Laney Crowell are becoming fast friends as well!  It took a few get togethers and Laura and I have been patiently waiting, but they are finally getting to know each other and have lots of fun.  Afterall they are just a few months apart and are both BIG sisters!   ;)

I can’t even fully express what a great weekend this was.  It’s so hard to believe that high school was 12 years ago!!  And although Carlotta and I have kept in good touch over the years, we live in different cities, 5 hours away, and there is only so much you can do to remain a part of each other’s lives.  This was the first time in a LONG time that we had such quality time together and it felt so wonderful!  You would have never known that so much time had passed since the days that we were together non-stop!!!

Carlotta – thank you for taking the time off of work and just making the time in general to come spend a couple of days with us!  I loved having you here and loved that you got to see what our crazy little life is like here in San Antonio, surround by kids and all of our friends!  Carlotta in SA 064 Carlotta in SA 073

We love you and miss you already!!!
