Building a Stool with Daddy

After being sick, Ella was starting to feel a little better and we were all outside enjoying the morning when the kids got the idea to build something.  So Daddy pulled out a few things and they made an impromptu step stool!

1st day of school (Ella, 3rd Grade and Easton, 1st Grade)

They didn't have homework the first week,  however, I made them do reading each day to get them in the habit of working each day when they got home from school.  I was happy to see their new homework station put to use!  They absolutely love it.

The rest of the week was great too and I know this is going to be an amazing year.

After the first week, Ella's highlights of 3rd grade include: 1) Having her best friend Addison not only at the same school but in her same class!!  2) She gets to have her very own Sharpie marker in her pencil box 3) She has a large binder and 4) She has an amazing teacher, Mrs. Hernandez, that she already loves!

Easton's first week has included: 1)Playing on the playground with his 3 best friends from Kindergarten, even though none of them are in his same class this year 2) Meeting a new friend in his class that is a girl 3) Getting chased on the playground by the same little girl :).  His teacher is Mrs. Ramones and she seems amazing as well!

We went back later and the water had subsided enough that I couldn't say no to Easton.  He got drenched and was in heaven!

August rain

A couple of nights before school started we got so much rain!  At 6:00am I got out of bed to check the back and saw SO MUCH WATER!  Michael and I couldn't go back to sleep and ended up checking it out and sitting outside for a couple hours before the kids even woke up.  When they did finally wake up, we couldn't wait for them to do the zip line over the "river" that was below, even though the water had already gone down quite a bit.

Time to explore and check out the water in the very back!

In these pictures you can see how the grass is pushed over because the water was so much higher just an hour before.

Easton wanted to jump in the water SO bad and was not happy that we wouldn't let him.

After a mud fight and some 4 wheeler rides, the kids jumped in the pool to clean off.
