TopGolf for Michael's birthday

April 23, 2015

Since Michael shares his birthday with the boys and has spent the last 4 years celebrating "toddler style" I wanted to take him out to celebrate turning the big 3-5.

We took some of our best fiends to TopGolf for the evening and had a perfect fun night!

FIESTA 2015

On Monday night we attended our first River Parade courtesy of UTSA.  The kids got to stay up late on a school night and experience their first FIESTA event!  They loved it.

And on Tuesday night, Michael and I got all dressed up for a Prom themed/Black tie Town Club Fiesta party with friends. Although we didn't dress prom theme, we did go old school with a corsage and boutonniere.

We snapped some pictures at the pre-party and then headed to the "prom" and literally danced the night away to an amazing band.  We had the absolute BEST time!

Even though Fiesta is a HUGE thing in San Antonio and we've been here for 12 years, we never get to participate much since it falls right in the midst of the end of tax season, birthdays, etc.  I'm glad we made time for it this year!

Pool Time!

We are all so excited that POOL season is here!!!

Playing in the Rain

April 12, 2015

As we were counting down the days to the end of tax season we got tons of rain and the kids and I went to explore and check out the creek in the back.  They all got new walkie talkies for Easter and Asher was especially excited to carry his.  "Mommy, my talkie".

It started to rain while we were out but we all decided to keep going anyway and the kids had a blast. They both fell in the creek on accident at first, but loved it and kept going!

We came home to a warm bubble bath!!

Dear Asher at 2 years old

Asher,

At 2 years old, you are definitely developing a little "personality"!  "No" is one of your favorite words and you say it even when you mean "Yes".  Other favorite words include "my" and "mine".  You repeat EVERYTHING we say and usually you say it pretty well but sometimes it's just a bunch of mumble jumble and it's so cute.  Other cute things you say: "jacket off me" when you want me to take your jacket off.  "Daddy get you" or "Mommy get you" when you want us to tickle you and get you.  "My side" when you want to go outside.  You love to say whose here: "Mommy here, Daddy here, my here".  Just recently you are able to say "Easton" more clearly.  Previously it always sounded like "Jakey".  You refer to yourself as both "Asher" and "Ashie".

I love how you grab my hand to take me places or show me something that you want.

You LOVE Addie Brown and Delaney Brown and get so excited to see them.

You also get so excited to see Ella and are so cute the way you yell "Hi Ella!!" when she wakes up in the morning or when we pick her up from school.  Sometimes you go wake her up in the mornings because you just can't wait to see her.

You love to be with Easton around the house and try to act exactly like him, no matter what he's doing.  You are his little replica and you two can be the sweetest together.

Everyone comments about how big you are and it's true.  You have always been in the 90th percentile and are wearing Easton's hand-me-downs a whole year earlier than when Easton wore them.  You are heavy for me to carry around as you are about the size of an average 3 year old!

You just started saying I love you and it sounds more like "I you Mommy".  In fact, the first time you really said it was on my birthday, just after you turned 2. :)  You give the sweetest little kisses and hugs.

You like to hit, unfortunately, but you are pretty quick to say sorry or give hugs.  You have always been pretty rough but you are definitely learning right from wrong as you get older.

You almost always say "thank you" without being prompted.

Admittedly, 2 feels like a tough stage because you are SO independent and you just want to be on the go constantly and you are always so busy!!!  You are a handful and a lot to keep up with!  But on the other hand, I absolutely adore the age of 2 because you are communicating with us so much and starting to understand what we are teaching you.  You are also still so little and rely on me for everything and still have a lot of "baby" qualities, which I love!

You are wild and crazy but you are also so sweet and sugary.  We love you so much Asher David!

Mommy

Dear Easton at 5 years old

Dear Easton,

As I write this letter the morning of June 17, you are at Mimi and Papa's house for a few days with Hutson.  You didn't hesitate when I asked if you wanted to go and you are having such a great time.  We spoke last night and you had so many fun things to tell me!  I'm so proud of you for going on your own and enjoying every minute.

Easton, you are such a sweet-hearted, silly boy.  You have so many goofy things you do whether it be silly faces, silly words or a fun laugh, you always keep me smiling.  You are also so extremely affectionate with me and have the best kisses and cuddles.  You so badly want me to sleep in your bed every night and don't think it's fair that me and Daddy get to share a bed.  You melt me with some of the things you say.  Such as, "Mommy, you were gone so long you broke my heart."

You are such an encourager to your little brother, constantly helping him in the pool when he was learning to swim and helping him potty train as well. He watches EVERY SINGLE move you make and looks up to you more than you'll probably ever know.  Asher is lucky to have you, even though you make him cry just as often as you help him back up.  :)

Easton you are LOUD and full of energy!  You love to scream just for fun and run through the house and be wild and crazy.  You are my "first-born boy" and have introduced me to a whole new world of boys that I absolutely adore!  You are constantly on the lookout for bugs and lizards and find new things every single day.  You also find any little nail, screw, washer or coin that there is to be found.  You were so proud of ME the other day when I caught a little frog for you and you kept telling Daddy, "Mommy caught it!"  It made me smile every time I heard you say it.

You are usually a pretty good listener when it comes to things I ask of you.  Often when I tell all of you to go get in the car the other kids are still running around and I'm looking for you only to find you are already sitting in the car buckled up, ready to go.  You are great at your chores, although you try to act like you still need me to help you get dressed and make your bed.  You absolutely don't need help though and do it all on your own a lot of the time.

I am reading "The 5 love languages of children" so I asked you the other day how you know that I love you and you responded, "Because you tell me all the time."  That would indicate that your love language may be "words of affirmation", however I'm still reading the book and you may even be too young to know but I still thought it was interesting to hear what you said.

You have a sensitive nature that I adore.

Easton, you are so much fun to be around!  You make me smile and light up my day.

I love you sweet boy.

Kinder Round Up...Round TWO!

It seems hard to believe that we are going to have TWO kids in Elementary school, but I am so excited about it!  Easton will be 5 in just a couple of weeks and he is ready for Kindergarten!

We had a great time at Kinder Round Up and a fun scavenger hunt was the perfect way to get Easton familiar with the school and excited about next year!  Ella was the best big sister as she showed him all around and talked his ear off about what he can expect next year.  It was the sweetest to see her telling him every detail.

As we walked out of the school, Easton said, "But Mommy, I'm going to need a backpack so I can come to Kindergarten."  He was so excited when I told him he could pick out a brand new backpack and even a brand new lunchbox!!

That night when I tucked Ella into bed she was so concerned..."But Mommy Easton isn't going to know everything next year."  I said "Ella, what do you mean?"  Ella: "Like he won't know that when they blow the whistle 2 times on the playground that means its time to line up!!"  :) I had to remind her that she too was a kindergartener once and she quickly learned all of the little rules and that Easton would quickly learn them too.  And I encouraged her to tell him anything she thinks of so that he'll be more than prepared on that first day!

Ella absolutely LOVES "Blazey bear" their school mascot.  She  nearly knocked him down with her excitement and giving him such a huge hug and I loved that her enthusiasm rubbed off on Easton!

Easter Sunday

Easter is one of our favorite holidays!  We had the family over for breakfast and an egg hunt for the kids.  I think we were all sad thinking of spending the first Easter holiday without McKenna so it was extra special that Grandpa flew her in as a surprise to everyone!!!

Before church on Good Friday

Above, Easton nearly knocked me over from getting so close and I'm holding Asher's arm to keep him from running away.  Below, I just had to grab Asher to keep him in the picture and I always love how these fun self timer pics turn out.  Me and my babies...the best!!  Michael was at work and had to meet us at church...

After I grabbed some clothes for Asher and got him dressed for church, I realized that Easton had worn the EXACT same outfit just 2 years ago for Easter.

On the right: Easton ( age almost 3) at Easter 2013
