Ella and “baby Reesie”

After a year and a half, Ella’s baby finally has a name!  I really wanted Ella to name her, so I just always called her “baby” and so did Ella.  After Easton was born she sometimes called her baby Easton, and one day after practicing the days of the week, I asked her what she wanted to name her baby and she replied “Saturday”.  That stuck for a few of days, but I didn’t encourage it!  Finally, she settled on baby Reesie and it has really stuck!  Baby Reesie is named after Ella Madrid’s adorable little sister who is in Easton’s daycare class.  This is how Ella came up with the name.  Also, Addie’s baby’s name is Marcie, so Marcie and Reesie are perfect names for the babies of these two best friends!

Ella already loved her baby, but now that she has a name, she seems to love her even more and always wants baby Reesie with her.  After reading these posts from Addie’s mom and Ella Madrid’s mom I had to laugh at how similar these three girls are at the exact same age of 2 1/2!

Ella’s baby does everything that Ella and Easton do!

She is working on potty training, so even though she wears a diaper most of the time, she does goes potty….cowgirl and cow 010

and of course she must wash her hands after….

If baby Reesie get sick, Ella easily switches from the roll of “Mommy” to “Doctor” to make her better…

She covers her with blankets, and rocks her to sleep…cowgirl and cow 001 cowgirl and cow 005    baby Reesie also just started eating cereal!

Ella is a good little mommy, and it just cracks me up to watch her because when she pretend plays, she is an exact reflection of myself!  It’s like looking in a mirror to hear the things she says and does.

Making baby food!

It’s time for Easton to eat solids, which means its time for me to bring out my food processor and ice cube trays!  Making baby food this time around is so much more fun since I have a little helper!

Easton at 6 months!

At 6 months old, Easton is ridiculously adorable!  He is so much fun and so aware of his surroundings but yet still such a baby.  He is gaining strength every day and loves to explore new toys to see what they are all about.Easton 6 months 041

When taking his monthly pictures, this was the first time that he noticed there was something else in the chair sitting next to him!

He is really learning how to use his hand as he reaches, grabs and holds things.  I love to see his hands reach out wide in front of him as he reaches for something and is only sometimes successful in grasping it.

He really likes this doorway bouncer.  He pushes up on his legs real hard to bounce as much as possible and just talks and talks.  This will keep him entertained often for 30 minutes while I cook dinner, or do other things in the kitchen!

The bond between he and Ella grows everyday!  I often wake him up first in the morning and then take him into Ella’s room to nurse so that she has some time to lay in bed and wake up before getting up for the day.  She immediately gets close to us and holds on to either Easton’s hand or leg.  She’ll often lay her head on top of his body and snuggle with him while he nurses.  I love those mornings with the two of them!

So far he has been a good eater and likes the few things that he has tried.  After almost every bite though, his thumb goes right into his mouth!

For his 6-month “birthday” we had a little BBQ with family to celebrate.

After fighting his afternoon nap, however, Easton didn’t last for the night….he quickly fell asleep in Aunt Kim’s arms.

Easton’s schedule at 6-months old:
During the week I wake him up around 7:15am, otherwise he’ll usually sleep in on the weekends until 8 or even 9.  Nurses as soon as he wakes up.  Right at 6 months, we have started giving him cereal in the mornings too.  After being awake for a couple of hours, he takes a good 1-2 hour morning nap, then nurses when he wakes up.  (about every 4 hours).  Playtime and then hopefully an afternoon nap around  1 or 2.  Nurses again around 3 and sometimes takes another little nap in the afternoon.  Baby food around 5:30pm, bedtime between 6:30/7:00.  Nurses again before bed or later while sleeping around 8:00.
Having 2 kids is an amazing blessing.  Yes, it’s difficult at times and we are extremely busy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!  To sit back and watch the amazing-ness of my kids gives me a joy that is indescribable.  I am so thankful for these two miracles!!!
Easton, you are PERFECT in every way and we love you so much!  You are growing up so fast and your milestones seem to be flying past, but I am trying hard to soak in every moment and rather then be sad about the time that is going by, just embrace every moment that comes our way!  I love you E. Michael!!!
by the way, Ella now calls you “baby Easton” most of the time, but your daddy and I still love the nickname “E. Michael” that she started, so we often call you that as well.
Happy 6 months!!
