Basketball breakthrough!

For most of the season, Easton has been pretty timid during his basketball games.  Just like anything else, he needs time to warm up to things before he feels comfortable and basketball was no exception.    He does great at practice, but was really closed off and unengaged during the games.  He shot a couple of times but that was about it.  However, it all changed last week during his 6th basketball game!

Something clicked within him and finally I could see how much fun he was having out on the court.  There were a few kids missing so he got to play the majority of the game and it was by far his best game all season!  He dribbled, he ran, he shot, he scored TWICE, he rebounded and most of all he had fun and WANTED to get the ball.  It was so much fun to watch him and it was a special treat that Granny and Grandpa and Megan and Blake were there to see him too.

^^After he made his first shot...I could see the happiness in his face, but he was trying to hold it back.^^

^^great rebound!!^^

I have his last shot on video and his whole fact lit up as he watched the video of himself dribbling all the way down the court, shooting, and then making the basket!  I can't wait to watch his last game now that his confidence has been boosted!

^^We were all so proud of him, we had to take advantage of fun photo opportunities!  I was thankful to have my camera at this game for sure!^^

Asher at 21 months

Likes to sing and waves his arms in circles // starting to say "no" but usually just shakes his head for no // building his vocabulary word by word each day // waves and says "bye bye" to everyone and everything // Asher yells Ella's name almost as much as he yells "mommy" // wants to share with Ella each and every time he gets a snack or vitamins.  He says her name and is off to find her. // calls his blankies his "babies" and is still obsessed with those and his "pa" // loves to stack his nesting blocks and just about anything that he can stack.  The nesting blocks are his favorite toy and have been for a while // been extra clingy to mommy // loves to buckle // always one step ahead...as soon as he hears me ask Ella or Easton to set the table, he immediately goes to the drawer and pulls out the placemats and starts doing everything!!....if he wants an apple, he pulls it out of the fridge and then opens the drawer and grabs the apple cutter and gives it to me.  While I'm cutting his apple, he runs to the cabinet and gets a bowl // loves to jump on the trampoline // still wild as ever and fearless!!

Valentine's Day

Valentine's was a great day full of lots of sugar and sweetness of all kinds.  The kids had little valentine gifts waiting for them when they woke up...new backpacks for traveling filled with little things different for each of them.  We had a yummy donut breakfast then played around the house, while Daddy worked, until Easton's basketball game.

Michael and I went out Friday night to celebrate Valentine's together so that we could spend the actual evening of Valentines with the kids.  We cooked a good dinner at home and then introduced the kids to chocolate fondue as a special Valentine dessert!!

We had lots of time together and it was certainly a day filled with LOVE.  :)

Working hard..

Easton was digging up rocks, Ella was gathering dirt, twigs and leaves to build bird nests and Asher was imitating the other two.  They were having so much fun and Easton already asked, "Mommy, will there still be a little bit of mud tomorrow so we can do that again?"

Afterwards, we "washed off the dirt" in the hot tub.  Another fun day at home with these three.  A "productive" weekend for me no longer includes a long to-do list that has been checked off, but instead smiling faces and lots of memories made.
